Code of Conduct
Everyone who participates in S.O. agrees to follow this Code.
1. Scope
This Code covers how you treat anyone S.O. introduces you to, or whose profile S.O. shows you, whether or not you meet them. It applies to every form of contact, in person, by phone, and online, and continues after your participation in S.O. ends.
2. Respect
- Be courteous and kind.
- Be honest. Misrepresenting your age, marital status, intentions, or circumstances is a breach of this Code.
- Be on time, and let them know in advance if you are running late.
3. Meeting in person
- Meet somewhere public, and never suggest a first meeting at anyone's home.
- Do not arrange things so they depend on you to get home.
- If they want to leave, let them, without argument.
- Do not become impaired enough to affect your judgment, and never pressure anyone to drink or use a substance. Make no sexual advance toward anyone who cannot clearly say yes.
- Paying for something does not put anyone in your debt.
4. Follow through
- Attend the dates you confirm. If you are not interested, say so directly and kindly. Do not ghost.
- Do not cancel or reschedule within 48 hours, or fail to show up, more than once.
5. Dating only
Do not use an introduction to sell, recruit, or promote anything, to ask for money or access to accounts, to offer or request sex for anything of value, or to collect contact details for any other purpose.
6. Zero tolerance
The following end your participation immediately and permanently, and may be reported to the police: (a) sexual contact without consent; (b) violence, or threats of violence; (c) harassing, intimidating, threatening, or doing anything that makes someone feel unsafe; (d) coercion, blackmail, or threatening to expose someone; (e) sending or saying anything insulting, demeaning, or sexual that was not asked for, including photos; (f) pushing for someone's personal details, photos, address, or social media; (g) stalking; (h) contacting anyone who has asked you to stop, or anyone's family, friends, or colleagues without their permission; (i) sharing an intimate image without consent; (j) abuse based on race, ethnicity, religion, national origin, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, or disability; (k) using S.O. while in a romantic relationship with someone else; (l) any involvement of a minor, as S.O. is only for people 18 and older; and (m) retaliating against anyone for making a report.
If you are in immediate danger, call 911. S.O. is not an emergency service and cannot provide protection or crisis support.
7. Reporting
If something happened to you, or you saw it happen, email hello@socurated.co. There is no time limit. How we respond is at our discretion, and we are not obliged to investigate or tell you our decision. Nothing here stops you from going to the police or another authority. Making up a report to get someone in trouble is a breach of this Code.
8. Consequences
Depending on what happened, we may, at our discretion and in any order: ask for your side, warn you, pause your introductions, end your membership under Section 6 of the General Terms & Conditions, block you from returning, report to the police or respond to a lawful request, or warn someone we believe is at risk. If your membership ends because you broke this Code, you are not entitled to a refund except as required by law, and your confidentiality and non-disparagement obligations continue.
9. What S.O. does not check
Nothing in this Code is a promise by S.O. about any other person, or about what S.O. will do. S.O. does not verify or vouch for anyone. S.O. does not conduct criminal record checks, identity verification, or background checks of any kind, and does not guarantee the honesty, intentions, or conduct of any person introduced to you. That another person has agreed to this Code is not a representation by S.O. that they will follow it. You agree to exercise your own due diligence, judgement, and precautions, and you will not hold S.O. responsible for the conduct of any Introduced Match Candidate. Section 5 of the General Terms & Conditions sets out the limits of S.O.'s liability in full, and applies to everything in this Code.
10. Changes
We may update this Code of Conduct from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this Code of Conduct. If we make material changes, we may notify you either by prominently posting a notice or by directly sending you a notification. By participating in S.O.'s services, you acknowledge you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Code in its entirety.
11. How this fits with our other terms
This sits alongside the General Terms & Conditions and the Privacy Policy. It expands on the client obligations in Section 2 of the General Terms & Conditions -- it does not replace or limit anything in it. If this Code and the General Terms & Conditions say different things about the same subject, the General Terms & Conditions win.
